Advanced Solutions Events
Autodesk NavisWorks
Technology Day
Advanced Solutions Inc., invites you to participate in one of
two available Autodesk Technology Day sessions featuring a presentation
by Ed Deal, Autodesk AEC Engineering Technical specialist.
With over 15 years of industry experience, Ed has proven to be
a skilled consultant with a superior knowledge of numerous Autodesk
software products. During each session, he will discuss many challenges
the industry is facing, including sustainability, and demonstrate
how Autodesk's solutions can help designers turn those challenges
into advantages through the use of Autodesk® NavisWorks® software.
You will see how the software will enable project design and building
professionals to unite their contributions into a single, synchronized
building information model. There are two available times to choose
from with the same agenda for your convenience.
By enabling team members to reliably share, combine, review, and
perfect detailed 3D design models of any size or format, Autodesk
NavisWorks solutions are at the heart of your building information
modeling (BIM) workflow. Come and learn how you can implement these
solutions into your design projects.

Field To Finish: AutoCAD Civil/Civil 3D
Using Survey data to automatically generate base map drawings
About Field to Finish
The ability to download field collected Survey data and automatically “draw” an
intelligent base map is called “field to finish”. Huge
efficiency gains may be achieved in this often overlooked, yet
essential project task. In this workshop you will see how knowledgeable
use of hardware and software throughout the data collection and
reduction process can not only save time but also assure accuracy.
Workshop Topics
The techniques for field to finish are easy to implement and use
Survey data can be seamlessly transferred from field data applications
into Autodesk Civil 3D for display, reduction, management, and
design. The goal of this workshop is to show you how this is
done by using a real-time example. We will field collect survey
data using the Autodesk Fieldbook methodology and then download
that raw data into AutoCAD Civil 3D and demonstrate how a base
map drawing is instantly created. The following are the topics
we will investigate as we step through this field to finish example:
- Experience the Possibilities of Civil 3D and Survey Functionality – an
overview of this exciting new paradigm shift from traditional
CAD to 3D modeling.
- Raw Survey Data and Fieldbook Files – an introduction
to the Autodesk Fieldbook methodology.
- Data Download and Conversion – how to download
your raw survey data into Civil 3D and where to find conversion
utilities if needed.
- Point Descriptions and Figure Prefixes – how to
fine tune automated drawing of base maps.
- Line Connectivity Codes – how to add accuracy
to your survey data as well as generate automatic base maps depicting
existing conditions.
- Surface Creation, Analysis, and Editing – the
steps needed to create and verify existing ground surfaces.
- Final Drawings and Documents – an introduction
to the power of display and report document creation and collaboration
in Civil 3D.
This half day workshop is targeted for those in the surveying,
mapping, and civil design professions that are interested in realizing
huge productivity gains by streamlining their current survey to
base map to design workflows.

Experience the Possibilities
Link Building Information Modeling (BIM) to Sustainable Design
Autodesk AEC Technical Specialist, John Boehms, AIA, LEED AP,
will illustrate bridging strategies for environmental and architectural
design to nurture sustainability. Through the use of design, analysis
and visualization platforms for BIM, you will gain an understanding
of how high-performance design can be executed with a coordinated
team effort characterized by an understanding of the holistic design
process fostered by LEED. The ability to integrate LEED principles
with architecture and engineering through a shared technology can
be a powerful tool for today's architects and designers.
Building Information Modeling can facilitate Sustainable Design
decisions and solutions on projects with management of data, analysis
and documentation parameters. Join us to gain knowledge, explore
bridging strategies and determine key values around sustainable
design.
This event qualifies for AIA Continuing Education Credits.
