Autodesk Revit MEP 2013 Fundamentals
4th Edition, by Advanced Solutions, Inc.

Autodesk Revit MEP 2013 Fundamentals teaches Revit MEP from a real world perspective. The courseware follows the design process and provides exercises that reflect realistic examples. The book teaches MEP engineers how Revit MEP works, why the tools work the way they do, and how they can help the engineer in daily work.

In the book, the engineer and designer are introduced to the fundamental items they need to understand the software. Beginning with the rules, the interface and explanations of design and process workflow, the book moves into where the project begins - with exercises on setting up a project in the most efficient fashion possible. A section on how to analyze the building model follows the project setup. Breaking the project up into workable pieces known as worksets completes the first section of the training.

Subsequent chapters include explanations and exercises for creating HVAC, electrical, plumbing, process piping and fire protection systems within the project. After reviewing these items, the user is moved back into the common portions of the program, including running interference detection tools, coordination with other disciplines, annotating views and completing schedules.

Autodesk Revit MEP 2013 Content Creation
4th Edition, by Advanced Solutions, Inc.

As the user progresses into their knowledge of Revit, it is critical to understand how the more advanced features of the application are used. Understanding how families are created and modified, and how to optimize the project templates are areas where a company can expand on the benefits of a BIM design application.

While this book does not cover every aspect for customization of Revit, its focus is to provide information to the user about moving beyond the out-of-the-box features of the program, and help build a more realistic database.

This book will cover creating hosted and non-hosted families. Using third party content will also be reviewed. Creating custom annotation entities such as light fixture and air terminal tags are topics for the book. Best practices and tips to help with templates, panel schedules, phases and other features of the program that can be easily adjusted to maximize productivity will be the final topic.
